Yes, you certainly can. We are looking for sustainable entrepreneurs who are ready to accelerate their business. However, if your turnover is over € 2 million, you will not be eligible for grants. There are many definitions of cleantech going around. So don’t worry too much about that, we do not intend to add our own. Just convince us that your proposal has a significant impact on climate change and has business potential.
We are looking for teams living in the Netherlands, Belgium or Luxembourg or teams that are connected to the Benelux because of their service or product. Please note: Travel costs are not refunded.
If you live outside the Benelux, you may consider joining Accelerator in another country, like France, Germany, Switzerland or the UK. You can find more information about the Accelerator program here.
Every stage has its own acceptance criteria and a separate application round. Stage 1 is one of the prerequisites for entry into Stage 2, although it is not the only one. To enter Stage 2, you need to convince the Review Board once again that your venture needs to join the program.
We only accept applications for stage 1.
Our Accelerator Team assesses all applications. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for a 2-day bootcamp. At day 2 of the bootcamp an independent jury will select the best teams to join Climate-KIC Accelerator stage 1.
Have a look at our Accelerator Application Form example, this gives you a good impression what we are looking for. If you still have some questions, we are here to help, drop us an email with your question.
Go to the ‘apply now’ button, fill in your details and the application form will be sent to you by e-mail. You can apply by filling out the application form and return it to us by email.

Climate-KIC Accelerator is a program that supports entrepreneurs and start-ups with funding, education, intensive coaching and a global network. The EIT Climate-KIC Accelerator program can help you grow your sustainable idea into a successful business.
In three stages the 18-month program helps you to get funded and to launch your products worldwide.
We support start-ups that address climate change and shape the world’s next economy.
Climate-KIC uses two locations for the program. The Accelerator sessions take place in Delft and in Utrecht.
We get it. Normally, start-up accelerators like ours ask for something in return. Lucky for you, we are funded by the European Commission, a not-for-profit. So we do not oblige you to surrender equity. We do however, ask you to pay it forward once you are successful.
We always ask for the following:
- You have a co-founder (with at least 10% shares)
- Your business has substantial climate impact
- If your startup has a Legal Entity, it’s less than 5 years old
- You are ready to start selling your product or service within 9 months
- You and your co-founder are available for all training sessions during the Accelerator Program, including the bootcamp.
Contact us if you are in doubt. We are happy to perform a scan so you have your answer.
